EquipmentShare Grows with New Rental Yards

October 29, 2019

Don’t blink, or you’ll miss the opening of yet another EquipmentShare rental location. That’s how fast we’ve grown since our last locations recap in May. Since then, EquipmentShare has entered into several new markets. We continue to fill holes in the parts of the country where customers need a better rental experience—one that's backed by smart jobsite technology. In the second and third quarters of 2019, we opened more than 10 new locations. Here’s just a sampling of the yards we’ve recently added, plus a sneak peek of what’s to come.

Chattanooga and Nashville, Tennessee

With the exception of our Olive Branch location that sits just on the border of Mississippi and Tennessee, the Volunteer State is uncharted territory for EquipmentShare. To that we say, “Bring it on.” EquipmentShare opened two rental locations in Tennessee—one in Chattanooga and the other in Nashville.

It’s no secret Nashville is a boon for business and overall economic development. At the start of 2019, Amazon announced it would open an operations site in downtown Nashville. Tower cranes dot the city skyline, and the Nashville metro area is active with both residential and commercial construction projects. This continued construction activity makes it a great time for EquipmentShare to enter the market and offer general rental services.

EquipmentShare’s Nashville location will be lead by General Manager Brad Williams, who has more than 20 years of industry experience and is currently hiring local talent to join him.

Further south in Chattanooga, projects are also cropping up, such as the recent development to improve the city’s South Broad District. The city is planning to spend around $1 million to makeover the area, according to the Chattanooga Times Free Press. We’re excited to make a difference and improve how the state of Tennessee builds. With dozens of projects taking shape across Tennessee, contractors can use smart jobsite technology to easily manage their mixed fleet across multiple jobsites and achieve higher productivity.

EquipmentShare’s Tennessee locations will offer general heavy equipment rentals for residential, commercial and dirt projects.

Birmingham, Alabama

Let’s move further south down the map to Birmingham, Alabama. Birmingham, the state’s largest city, is home to our first rental yard in Alabama.

Last year, a report stated the city was experiencing an economic boost to the tune of $12 billion, thanks to an influx of commercial construction projects. There’s plenty of work being done across the greater metro area; everything from luxury apartments to bridges are being built and improved.

As we enter the thriving Birmingham construction market, which is also fueled by numerous manufacturing plants and industrial businesses, EquipmentShare offers a differentiating factor of success for contractors and construction professionals: technology that helps them get more done.

“In markets like Birmingham, renters already have access to every major equipment rental name,” EquipmentShare’s Director-Southeast Region Adam Sharpe said. “What sets us apart is our technology.”

Equipment rental customers are accustomed to renting the same piece of equipment at the same rate from their familiar rental agency. Those same customers are able to gain efficiency and access technology that helps them maximize their rental utilization when they rent from EquipmentShare.

“That efficiency and technology can’t be found at any other rental agencies,” Sharpe said.

Springfield, Missouri

Back in EquipmentShare’s home state, we’re finding new ways to serve our loyal customers. In this case, it's by opening a rental yard in Springfield, Missouri.

EquipmentShare in Springfield will effectively serve existing (and new) customers currently renting from our surrounding Missouri-based yards in Columbia, St. Louis and Kansas City and our location in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Springfield is also Regional Sales Director Aaron Eoff’s hometown, so not only is our team excited to serve new customers in the area, but they’re also looking forward to returning to their roots.

“I’m looking forward to seeing my hometown have an EquipmentShare location,” Eoff said. “And I’m excited to serve some of my old customers again.”

In addition to growing up in Springfield, Eoff spent several years there as an equipment sales representative. Customer loyalty is strong in Springfield, he added, and EquipmentShare has served Missouri construction professionals since its start.

“We’re going to take care of our contractors, because we’ve been in their shoes,” Eoff said.

Healthy population growth rates, combined with the biggest construction boom the city has seen in years, make Springfield “a perfect dot on the map to help us fill in the gaps between our existing markets,” Eoff said. Construction is currently underway on various projects, such as downtown hotels, apartment buildings, an aquarium, and senior living complexes with more to come. As the city continues to expand, EquipmentShare can fulfill its general construction equipment rental needs. The yard’s first shipment of rental inventory was recently delivered, and Eoff will officially open the yard’s doors on November 1.

Topeka, Kansas

A few hours of travel across the state line brings us to our new yard in Topeka, Kansas. The Topeka location will serve our customers in the greater metro area, Lawrence to the east and Manhattan to the west of Topeka, respectively. The Topeka rental yard officially opened on October 1, and the team is headed up with several key hires who bring plenty of industry experience with them. Territory Account Manager Dave Marple, for example, brings with him more than 30 years of experience to help our newest Kansas location get off to a great start.

“There’s really no one else who can provide the full spectrum of services and technology that we do,” Eoff said. “At our Topeka yard, we’ll offer everything from aerial to large earth-moving equipment, so we enter the market capable of taking care of all types of contractors. And because of our technology, no other supplier in that market can compete with us.”

EquipmentShare’s platform of technology solutions will provide the area’s general construction professionals with more transparency and visibility of their daily equipment utilization and progress. With construction projects slated for a revitalized downtown Topeka, affordable housing and a new football stadium at the neighboring Kansas State University, there’s plenty of work to be done. EquipmentShare in Topeka will help Kansas contractors create connected jobsites and work more efficiently.

ON THE HORIZON

EquipmentShare will continue to take over the greater Midwest by establishing a location in Omaha, Nebraska, in the near future. But we haven’t forgotten about our customers out west: Yards in Seattle, Washington, and Salt Lake City, Utah, recently opened their doors, and a yard in Sacramento, California is in the works. Check back soon for another recap where we’ll detail our newest yards, and use our Location Finder to stay in the loop.
